1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Labradoor (“we”, “us”), the operator of this platform. They apply whenever you create an account, browse listings, apply to a posting, claim a bounty, or post work as an organization. If you do not agree to them, do not use the platform.

If you are using Labradoor on behalf of a company, a lab, or a university department, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

2. Accounts and eligibility

Labradoor serves three kinds of account: students, researchers, and companies. Student and researcher accounts are intended for people affiliated with UCLA, and researcher accounts are checked against institution backed information before openings can be published. Company organisations are reviewed by an administrator before they can post bounties or projects.

• You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit, including your name, affiliation, lab name, and any documents you upload.
• You are responsible for keeping your password and your session secure, and for anything done through your account.
• One person should hold one account per role.

Verification tells you that we checked an email address or an organisation record against a source we trust. It is not a background check, an endorsement, or a guarantee about any person, lab, or company.

3. Posting, applying, and submitting work

• Openings, bounties, and projects must describe real work.
• Applications, bounty submissions, and project interest must be your own work, and must not contain anything you do not have the right to share.
• Do not upload malware, scrape the platform, attempt to reach accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with how the service runs.
• Do not post content that is unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, or deliberately misleading about a lab, a company, or an applicant.

Some openings shown on Labradoor are sourced from public university department pages rather than posted by a researcher on the platform. Those listings link out to the original site, and any application you make happens on that site under that site’s terms. We do not control those pages and we cannot guarantee that a sourced listing is current.

You keep ownership of what you upload. You grant us a non exclusive licence to store it, display it to the people the product is designed to show it to (for example, showing an application to the researcher who posted the opening), and process it to operate the service.

4. Bounties, payment, and fees

A bounty is a scoped task posted by an organisation that a student can claim and submit work for. Bounties may be unpaid or paid.

• Paid bounties are funded in advance. The organisation completes a deposit through Stripe before the bounty opens for claims, and the deposit is held until submitted work has been reviewed.
• Where a platform fee applies, it is shown to the organisation before payment is completed.
• Payment is released to a contributor after their submission is reviewed and approved. Submissions that are flagged go to administrator review before any release decision is made.
• If a paid bounty is cancelled or never delivered, the deposit is handled under the refund terms shown at the time of funding.

Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers. Payment disputes between an organisation and a contributor should be raised with us first so we can look at the submission record.

Labradoor is a place where labs, students, and companies find each other. We are not a party to any research position, employment relationship, contract, or engagement that results from a match, and we are not an employment agency.

5. Credibility records

Approved submissions and completed bounties contribute to a student’s credibility score, which researchers and organisations can use to set minimum requirements on a posting. Attempting to manipulate that score, including coordinated approvals or submitting work you did not do, may result in the score being adjusted or reset and the account being suspended from bounty work.

If your access to bounty work is suspended, you can submit an appeal from the bounty page, and an administrator will review it.

6. Suspension and removal

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these terms, that misrepresents a person or an organisation, or that puts other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why. You can stop using the platform at any time and ask us to close your account.

7. Service availability and changes

The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that every listing is accurate or current, or that a posting will lead to a position, a match, or payment. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we will give notice of significant changes to these terms by posting an updated version on this page with a new effective date.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

You agree to cover reasonable costs we incur from a claim brought against us because of content you posted or because you used the platform in a way these terms do not allow.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of California will have jurisdiction over any dispute. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
